General Service FAQs

About Our Service & Approach

What makes your cleaning method different from traditional pressure washing?
We use substrate-specific chemistry and controlled dwell times rather than relying on brute-force pressure. This means we're treating contamination at a molecular level—breaking down organic growth, oils, and staining—before we ever apply water. The result? Deeper cleaning, longer-lasting results, and zero surface damage. Traditional pressure washing can erode mortar, splinter wood, and strip protective layers. Our method doesn't.

Are your cleaning products safe for plants, pets, and children?
Absolutely. Every product we use is biodegradable and eco-certified. We follow strict dwell and neutralisation protocols to ensure no harmful residues remain. Your garden, your pets, and your family are safe throughout the process.

Do you offer a guarantee on your work?
Yes. We stand behind our chemistry and our process. If contamination returns prematurely due to our workmanship, we'll return and re-treat the area at no additional cost. Longevity is built into our method—not just promised.

How long do your cleaning results typically last?
Depending on the surface and environmental exposure, you can expect 2–5 years of clean, protected surfaces. Our biocide treatments inhibit regrowth, and optional sealants extend that window even further. Compare that to pressure-wash-only methods, which often show regrowth within months.

What areas in the UK do you cover?
We operate UK-wide. Whether you're in a suburban estate or a rural property, we'll travel to you. Distance is never a barrier to delivering exceptional results.

Do you provide free quotes?
Every quote is free, no-obligation, and tailored to your specific surfaces and contamination levels. We don't do one-size-fits-all pricing—we assess, we calculate, we deliver transparency.

How quickly can you provide a quote after I submit my details?
Most quotes are turned around within 24–48 hours. For complex or multi-surface projects, we may arrange a site visit to ensure accuracy.

Are you insured and what does your coverage include?
Fully insured for public liability and professional indemnity. Your property, your surfaces, and your peace of mind are protected.

Do you need access to water and electricity at my property?
We bring our own equipment and water supply when necessary. If you have an outdoor tap, that's helpful—but not essential. We're self-sufficient.

What happens if it rains after you've cleaned my surfaces?
Rain won't undo our work. In fact, light rain can help rinse residual product and accelerate the biocide's penetration. Heavy rain immediately post-treatment is rare, but if it occurs, we monitor and return if needed.

Pricing & Booking

How do you calculate your prices?
Pricing is based on surface area, contamination severity, substrate type, and access complexity. We don't charge by the hour—we charge for results. You'll receive a fixed-price quote before we begin.

Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
By the job. Our pricing reflects the chemistry, the process, and the outcome—not the clock.

What payment methods do you accept?
Bank transfer, card payment, and cash. We'll confirm payment terms when we issue your quote.

Do you require a deposit before starting work?
For larger projects, we may request a deposit to secure your booking and cover material costs. This will be clearly outlined in your quote.

Can I get a discount for booking multiple services?
Yes. Multi-surface projects benefit from economies of scale—setup, travel, and chemistry can often be bundled. We'll reflect that in your quote.

How far in advance do I need to book?
We recommend 1–2 weeks for standard jobs, longer during peak season (spring/summer). Urgent requests? Contact us—we'll do our best to accommodate.

What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations may incur a call-out fee if materials have been prepared.

Process & Timing

How long does a typical job take?
A standard driveway or patio takes 3–6 hours. Render cleaning can take 4–8 hours depending on property size. Roof cleaning varies by pitch and contamination. We'll give you an estimated timeframe with your quote.

Will I need to be home during the cleaning?
Not necessarily. As long as we have access to the areas being treated, you're free to be elsewhere. We'll update you on progress and completion.

Do I need to prepare anything before you arrive?
Clear the area of furniture, plant pots, or vehicles if possible. We'll handle the rest—including protecting adjacent surfaces and landscaping.

What is the six-step cleaning process you use?
1. Pre-Treatment: Surface assessment and debris removal.
2. Biocide Application: Targeted chemistry to kill organic growth at the root.
3. Dwell Time: Allowing the product to penetrate and break down contamination.
4. Controlled-Pressure Cleaning: Low-to-medium pressure rinsing to lift loosened material.
5. Neutralisation: pH balancing to protect the substrate and surrounding environment.
6. Post-Treatment Protection: Optional sealants or inhibitors for extended results.

Why do you use a dwell time instead of just pressure washing?
Dwell time is where the science happens. It allows our substrate-specific chemistry to break molecular bonds between contamination and surface. Pressure washing alone just moves dirt around—or worse, drives it deeper into porous materials. Dwell time = deeper clean, longer results.

Can you work in winter or does it need to be warm weather?
We work year-round. Some treatments perform best above 5°C, but we adjust chemistry and technique for seasonal conditions. Winter bookings often mean faster scheduling.

Driveway & Patio Cleaning FAQs

Surface-Specific Questions

What types of driveways and patios can you clean?
Block paving, concrete, natural stone (sandstone, limestone, granite), porcelain, Indian stone, resin-bound, tarmac—if it's underfoot, we can clean it. Each substrate gets its own chemistry and pressure profile.

Will cleaning damage my block paving or remove the jointing sand?
Not with our method. We use controlled pressure and avoid direct jet angles that displace sand. If re-sanding is needed (due to prior erosion), we offer that as an add-on service.

Can you remove oil stains from my driveway?
Yes. Oil stains require specific degreasers and dwell protocols. Older, set-in stains may lighten rather than disappear entirely, but we'll always achieve the best possible result.

How do you deal with weeds growing between paving slabs?
We remove visible weeds manually or chemically before cleaning. Our biocide treatment also inhibits future growth in joints.

Can you restore the original colour of my patio?
In most cases, yes. Organic staining (algae, lichen, tannins) lifts beautifully. Mineral staining or UV fading may be permanent, but we'll restore as much vibrancy as the substrate allows.

Will you re-sand my block paving after cleaning?
We offer kiln-dried sand re-jointing as an optional service. It stabilises the surface and prevents weed regrowth.

Results & Maintenance

How long will my driveway stay clean after treatment?
2–4 years on average, depending on shade, drainage, and foot traffic. Our biocide treatments slow regrowth significantly compared to pressure-only methods.

Do you offer a protective sealant for driveways and patios?
Yes. Sealants enhance colour, repel water and oil, and extend cleaning intervals. We use breathable, substrate-matched products—never one-size-fits-all coatings.

What can I do to maintain my driveway between professional cleans?
Sweep regularly, clear organic debris (leaves, moss), and avoid harsh chemicals. A light garden-hose rinse is fine—just don't pressure-wash without proper chemistry.

Will the cleaning remove all black spots and algae?
Surface algae and black spot (Gloeocapsa) lift completely with our biocide and dwell process. Deep-set staining in porous stone may require repeat treatments or sealing.

Can you clean imprinted concrete or pattern-imprinted driveways?
Absolutely. Imprinted concrete requires low pressure and pH-neutral chemistry to preserve the surface texture and colour. We specialise in it.

Render & Brickwork Cleaning FAQs

Surface & Safety

What types of render can you clean?
K-rend, monocouche, Weber, pebbledash, smooth render, textured render, lime render—we've cleaned them all. Each system gets tailored chemistry to avoid etching or discolouration.

Is render cleaning safe or will it damage the surface?
Our low-pressure, chemistry-first method is completely safe. High-pressure washing can strip render, expose aggregate, or drive water behind the facade. We don't do that.

Can you clean painted brickwork without removing the paint?
Yes, provided the paint is well-adhered. We adjust pressure and chemistry to lift contamination without disturbing sound paintwork. Flaking paint may lift—but that's a sign it needed repainting anyway.

Will you damage the mortar joints when cleaning brickwork?
No. We avoid direct jet impact on mortar and use soft-wash techniques for older or lime-mortared walls. If joints are already eroded, we'll flag that before we begin.

Can you remove green algae and black mould from render?
Completely. Algae, mould, and lichen are organic—our biocides kill them at the root. Dwell time ensures they don't return for years.

Do you clean the soffits and fascias as well?
Yes, as an add-on service. Clean render with dirty soffits looks unfinished—we'll quote for the full facade if you'd like.

Process & Results

Why is low-pressure cleaning better for render than a pressure washer?
Render is porous and textured. High pressure drives water behind the surface, risks freeze-thaw damage, and can erode the finish. Low pressure + chemistry = safe, deep, lasting clean.

How do you prevent streaking on white or light-coloured render?
Even application, proper dwell, and controlled rinsing from top to bottom. We also pre-wet adjacent areas to prevent tide marks. Streaking is a technique failure—we don't allow it.

Can you clean render on a listed or period property?
Yes. Listed buildings often have lime render or historic brickwork that requires extra care. We've worked on heritage properties and understand the compliance and conservation requirements.

Will cleaning render improve the appearance of my home?
Dramatically. Clean render looks newer, brighter, and better maintained. It's one of the highest-impact exterior improvements you can make.

How often should render be professionally cleaned?
Every 3–5 years in most environments. North-facing or heavily shaded facades may need attention sooner.

Do you offer a protective coating after cleaning render?
Yes. We apply breathable, water-repellent coatings that inhibit algae regrowth and reduce water ingress—without trapping moisture inside the wall.

Roof Cleaning FAQs

Safety & Method

Is roof cleaning safe or could it damage my tiles?
Completely safe when done correctly. We use soft-wash techniques and avoid high pressure that can crack tiles, lift edges, or force water under laps. Safety—for your roof and our team—is non-negotiable.

Do you use high-pressure washing on roofs?
Never. Roofs are cleaned with biocide application, dwell time, and low-pressure rinsing. High pressure is a liability, not a solution.

What types of roofs can you clean?
Concrete tiles, clay tiles, slate, composite slate, felt, fibreglass, and some metal roofs. Each material gets its own treatment protocol.

Will you need to walk on my roof?
Only when necessary, and always with proper safety equipment and tile-protection measures. Many roofs can be treated from ladders or cherry pickers.

Can roof cleaning cause leaks?
Not with our method. We don't force water under tiles or into valleys. If your roof already has compromised flashing or cracked tiles, we'll identify that during our assessment.

Do you clean moss, lichen, and algae from roofs?
Yes—all three. Moss is manually removed or chemically killed, lichen is treated with extended-dwell biocides, and algae (including black streaks) lifts completely.

Protect your roof—get your free quote →

Results & Protection

How long does a roof cleaning last?
3–5 years with biocide treatment. Optional inhibitor coatings can extend that to 7+ years.

Do you remove the moss or just kill it?
Both. Heavy moss is manually removed first, then we treat the roof with biocide to kill remaining spores and prevent regrowth.

Will cleaning my roof improve its lifespan?
Yes. Moss and lichen retain moisture, accelerate freeze-thaw damage, and lift tiles. Removing them reduces long-term degradation.

Do you offer a biocide treatment to prevent regrowth?
It's included in every roof clean. Biocide is the foundation of our process—not an upsell.

Can you clean roof valleys and gutters at the same time?
Yes. Valleys are part of the roof clean; gutters are an optional add-on. We'll quote both if you'd like a complete system refresh.

Will my roof look like new after cleaning?
It'll look dramatically better—cleaner, brighter, and well-maintained. UV fading and mineral staining may remain, but organic contamination will be gone.

Practical Concerns

Do I need to move my car or cover anything before roof cleaning?
We'll ask you to move vehicles and cover delicate plants near the roofline. We protect everything else.

Will debris fall into my gutters during the clean?
Some moss and organic material will wash into gutters—that's unavoidable. We can clear gutters as part of the service if you'd like.

Can you clean my conservatory or flat roof?
Yes. Conservatory roofs (glass, polycarbonate, or solid) and flat roofs (felt, fibreglass, EPDM) all respond well to our soft-wash process.

How do you access difficult-to-reach roof areas?
Ladders, scaffolding, or cherry pickers depending on height and pitch. We're fully trained and insured for working at height.

Fence & Decking Cleaning FAQs

Wood Care & Safety

Can you clean all types of wood fencing and decking?
Softwood, hardwood, composite, and treated timber—all cleanable. Each wood type gets tailored chemistry to avoid grain-raising, splintering, or discolouration.

Will pressure washing damage or splinter my wooden deck?
High pressure absolutely will. That's why we don't use it. Our low-pressure, chemistry-led method lifts contamination without eroding the wood fibres.

Can you remove green algae and slime from decking?
Completely. Algae and biofilm make decking dangerously slippery—our biocide treatment kills it and prevents regrowth.

Will cleaning restore the natural colour of the wood?
Yes, to the extent the wood allows. UV greying and tannin staining will lift, revealing the underlying grain. For full colour restoration, we recommend oiling or staining post-clean.

Can you clean composite decking as well as timber?
Yes. Composite decking requires different chemistry (no harsh alkalis) and lower pressure, but the results are excellent.

Do you clean both sides of a fence?
We can, with neighbour permission or access. Most clients opt for the visible side only, but we'll quote for both if you'd like.

Treatment & Protection

Do you offer staining or oiling services after cleaning?
We partner with trusted decorators for post-clean treatments, or we can recommend products for DIY application. Clean wood is the perfect canvas for oil or stain.

Should I seal or treat my deck after it's been cleaned?
Highly recommended. Cleaning opens the grain and removes old coatings—sealing or oiling protects against UV, moisture, and future contamination.

How long should I wait after cleaning before applying a treatment?
48–72 hours in dry weather. The wood needs to fully dry before accepting oil or stain.

Can you remove old flaking stain or paint before cleaning?
We can strip loose coatings as part of the clean, but heavily painted or varnished wood may require specialist stripping before we begin.

Will cleaning prevent my decking from becoming slippery?
Yes. Slippery decking is caused by algae and biofilm—our biocide treatment eliminates both and keeps surfaces safe underfoot.

Request your decking or fence quote →

Results & Maintenance

How often should I have my decking professionally cleaned?
Every 1–2 years for timber, 2–3 years for composite. Regular cleaning prevents deep staining and extends the life of the wood.

Can you remove tannin stains from composite decking?
Tannin staining (from leaves, acorns, or adjacent timber) can be stubborn on composite. We use specialised tannin removers—results vary by stain age and composite type.

Will cleaning my fence make it last longer?
Yes. Removing organic growth reduces moisture retention and rot risk. A clean, treated fence can last decades.

What can I do to maintain my deck between cleans?
Sweep regularly, clear leaf litter, and avoid standing water. A light garden-hose rinse is fine—just don't pressure-wash without chemistry.

Chemistry & Eco-Credentials FAQs

What chemicals do you use and are they biodegradable?
We use professional-grade, biodegradable biocides, surfactants, and pH-balanced cleaners. Every product is selected for efficacy and environmental safety.

Are your cleaning products harmful to wildlife or aquatic life?
Not when used correctly. We follow strict dilution, dwell, and neutralisation protocols. Runoff is managed, and we avoid treating near open watercourses without additional containment.

Do you use bleach or harsh acids?
We use controlled concentrations of sodium hypochlorite (bleach) for biocidal action, but always pH-balanced and neutralised. Harsh acids are reserved for specific mineral staining—never used indiscriminately.

Why is a biocide treatment necessary?
Biocides kill organic contamination (algae, moss, lichen, mould) at the cellular level. Without biocide, you're just rinsing the surface—the roots remain, and regrowth is rapid.

What does "substrate-specific chemistry" mean?
Different surfaces require different pH levels, surfactants, and dwell times. Render isn't brick; timber isn't stone. We match the chemistry to the material for maximum safety and efficacy.

How do you neutralise cleaning agents after treatment?
We rinse thoroughly and apply neutralising agents where necessary to restore pH balance. This protects the substrate and surrounding environment.

Are your methods compliant with environmental regulations?
Fully compliant with UK environmental and water authority guidelines. We're insured, trained, and audited for safe chemical handling.

Can I stay in my home while you're using cleaning chemicals?
Yes. Our products are applied externally, and we manage ventilation and access to ensure no indoor exposure.

Post-Treatment & Maintenance FAQs

Do you offer protective coatings or sealants?
Yes. We offer breathable sealants for paving, render coatings for water repellency, and inhibitor treatments for roofs. All are substrate-matched and professionally applied.

What are the benefits of applying a sealant after cleaning?
Sealants enhance colour, repel water and oil, inhibit organic regrowth, and extend the interval between cleans. They're an investment in longevity.

How long does a protective treatment last?
3–7 years depending on product type, substrate, and exposure. We'll recommend the best option for your surface and budget.

Can I power-wash my surfaces myself between professional cleans?
We don't recommend it. Pressure washing without chemistry just moves contamination around—or drives it deeper. A garden hose and soft brush are safer for light maintenance.

What maintenance do you recommend after a professional clean?
Sweep regularly, clear organic debris, and rinse lightly as needed. Avoid harsh chemicals or high-pressure equipment. Treat your surfaces gently, and they'll reward you with years of clean.

Do you offer annual maintenance packages or repeat-service discounts?
Yes. We offer maintenance contracts and loyalty discounts for repeat clients. Ask us about scheduling your next clean at a reduced rate.
